“The leadership of NACOC has become very useless in the fight against illicit drugs – Nana B
According to report by Utvghana on Wednesday 4, November 2026, Nana B has launched a strong criticism of the leadership of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), questioning its effectiveness in the fight against illicit drugs in Ghana.
He expressed disappointment in the commission’s leadership, arguing that its performance in tackling drug related activities has raised serious concerns about its ability to fulfil its mandate.
According to Nana B, the current leadership has not demonstrated the level of commitment and effectiveness expected in the fight against the growing challenges associated with illicit drugs.
In a statement, he described the leadership of NACOC as ineffective and questioned why President John Dramani Mahama had not taken steps to remove those currently overseeing the commission.
“The leadership of NACOC has become very useless in the fight against illicit drugs, and I am surprised that President Mahama has not sacked them,” he stated.
His comments reflect growing public discussions about the effectiveness of Ghana’s institutions responsible for combating drug trafficking, abuse and other narcotics-related offences.
The Narcotics Control Commission plays an important role in coordinating efforts to prevent drug trafficking, enforce narcotics related laws and educate the public on the dangers associated with illicit substances.
Nana B’s remarks have therefore brought renewed attention to questions surrounding the commission’s performance and the expectations placed on its leadership.
His call for the removal of the current leadership also raises broader questions about accountability, institutional performance and the measures government should take to strengthen the country’s fight against illicit drugs.
However, it remains important for the concerns raised to be examined against the commission’s documented activities and performance in carrying out its responsibilities.
Neither a response from NACOC’s leadership nor an official reaction from the presidency was included in the statement.
