Ruto’s Bold Red-and-Black Designer Blazer Sparks Buzz as KSh 904,000 Price Is Revealed

President William Ruto’s eye-catching outfit at his daughter Charlene’s wedding in Tanzania has attracted attention after the price of his designer blazer was revealed.

Ruto made a bold fashion statement at the November 6 ceremony in Mwanza, wearing a red-and-black patterned blazer decorated with intricate, hieroglyphic-style motifs.

The outfit was complemented by a white dress shirt, black bow tie, cream fedora with a maroon band and a wooden walking cane. The blazer featured red velvet lapels and collar, gold buttons and decorative studs on the cuffs.

Kenyan menswear outlet Zannetti Gents Fashion identified the designer as Stefano Ricci, an Italian luxury fashion house known for its high-end clothing.

In a Facebook post published on Friday, November 6, the retailer announced that it was accepting direct orders for the blazer following what it described as overwhelming public interest.

The outlet indicated that prices start at approximately $7,000, equivalent to about KSh 904,000. The final cost may vary depending on the size and availability of the garment.

The revelation sparked reactions among Kenyans, with some expressing surprise at the price while others joked about the possibility of the distinctive design becoming popular.

Jeniffer Isaya commented: “Luos will not let us rest with this blazer.”

Evelyn Kibuchi questioned the quoted amount, asking: “Did you mean KSh or USD?”

Otieno Ngoye joked: “If everyone is asking for it, then it is gonna be the ‘Kenya uniform’.”

Njuguna Muya, however, questioned what made the blazer different from ordinary designs, writing: “You guys joke a lot. What’s the difference between an ordinary blazer and this one?”

Hooligan Jakogalo added: “Next week all pastors will be wearing it.”

Charlene’s wedding to Tanzanian entrepreneur Isaya Yunge attracted considerable attention, with guests, fashion choices and the elaborate venue decorations generating discussion on social media.
