Player’s Livelihood at Stake: Darts Fans Outraged Over ‘Disgusting’ Dartboard Aiding Luke Humphries’ Win
November 7, 2026 sportnow DARTS enthusiasts are furious over a “disgraceful” dartboard that seemed to favor Luke Humphries.
The former world champion secured a win against World No. 134, Jack Aldridge, during Players Championship 34.
Humphries, aged 31, clinched the match with a score of 7-5, but the outcome could have been dramatically different if Aldridge had enjoyed a stroke of good fortune.
During the seventh leg, Aldridge found himself with a score of 135 and successfully hit 25 and treble 20 with his first two darts, leaving him just the bull to finish.
However, his attempt was thwarted when the dart failed to stick to the dartboard and instead bounced away.
Humphries could be seen smirking at the unfortunate moment as he prepared to step up to the oche.

Viewers caught the incident and expressed their belief that the dartboard was to blame, as the dart appeared not to have hit the wire at all.
One fan remarked: “Even Humphries knows. It’s a disgrace what’s gone on all year. This affects players’ livelihoods, rankings, and incomes.”
Another stated: “These boards are a joke.”
A third commenter added: “Aldridge’s bullseye that bounced out is appalling. How did that not stay in? It was right in the center.”

A fourth critic noted: “This type of error is unacceptable at this level.”
Another commented: “You always think you’ve seen the worst of these bounce-outs, but somehow, every new one is worse than the last.”
Humphries ultimately triumphed in the match with a 7-5 victory in the semi-final, paving the way for a confrontation with Tommy Morris.
Unfortunately, the Leeds player couldn’t overcome the world No. 82, losing the match 8-5.
