People Will Begin To See The Positive Effect Of Managing TraffiTech Using Technology – Toobu

According to a report by Citi FM today being Saturday, November 7, 2026, people will gradually begin to appreciate the positive impact of using technology to manage traffic, regardless of the criticisms and concerns surrounding its implementation, the Member of Parliament for Wa West, Peter Lanchene Toobu, has said.

According to the MP, the introduction of the TraffiTech-GH system represents an important step towards improving road discipline, strengthening traffic enforcement and addressing some of the challenges affecting road safety in Ghana.

Toobu, who also chairs Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, expressed confidence that the technology-driven traffic management initiative would deliver significant benefits to motorists and other road users once it becomes fully operational.

He maintained that although some members of the public might have reservations about the system, its long-term advantages would become increasingly evident as people experience improvements in traffic management and law enforcement.

The lawmaker believes that relying on technology to monitor road users and identify traffic violations could help reduce human interference in the enforcement process. This, he suggested, would minimise opportunities for corruption and discourage practices that undermine effective traffic regulation.

He further explained that the system has the potential to encourage motorists to become more responsible and comply with established road regulations, knowing that traffic violations could be detected through technological monitoring.

Beyond promoting discipline, Toobu believes TraffiTech-GH could contribute to reducing road accidents and fatalities by encouraging safer driving behaviour and improving the enforcement of traffic laws.

Road crashes remain a major concern in Ghana, with reckless driving, speeding and disregard for traffic regulations contributing to road safety challenges.

The MP’s comments come amid public discussions surrounding the rollout of the TraffiTech-GH initiative and its expected impact on traffic management.

He believes that rather than focusing solely on the criticisms surrounding the programme, Ghanaians should allow the system to operate and assess its performance based on the results it delivers.

Toobu is optimistic that the adoption of technology in traffic management will eventually demonstrate its value by promoting accountability, reducing corruption and making Ghana’s roads safer for everyone.
