The Soweto giants have further announced the 27-year-old will wear the jersey number that was formerly worn by the legendary Simphiwe Tshabalala.
Hailing from KwaMhlanga in Mpumalanga, Mokwana returns to Mzansi after two seasons in Tunisia and Saudi Arabia.
Celebrated for his high pace, agility and dribbling ability on the left or right flank, Mokwana endured a testing journey to the top.
Fondly known as ‘Kideo,’ he started in the third division ABC Motsepe League with Gemsbok Classic.
Mokwana later moved up to the National First Division to join Platinum City Rovers.
The spell at Rovers, 22 appearances with three goals, earned him a move to the Betway Premiership.
In May 2022, Mokwana signed a three-year contract with Sekhukhune United. He marked more than 50 league appearances before becoming a Bafana Bafana in November 2023.
He won bronze at the Africa Cup of Nations. He also scored important goals in international matches against Andorra and Congo.
In August 2024, Mokwana took the next step in his career by joining Tunisian giants Espérance de Tunis on a three-year deal. He made an immediate impact, becoming the first South African player to win the Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1 title.
His debut season in Tunisia proved highly successful. He featured in more than 30 matches across all competitions, including the CAF Champions League, and helped Espérance secure a domestic treble consisting of the league title, Tunisian Cup and Tunisian Super Cup.
Mokwana then moved to the Saudi Pro League in August 2025, joining Al-Hazem on a season-long loan. He became an important part of the team, making 24 appearances and 16 starts. The winger also opened his scoring account in the Gulf region with a memorable individual goal against Al-Taawoun.
