Kaizer chiefs and orlando pirates outshone by one sundowns superstar

THEMBA ZWANE’S INCREDIBLE TROPHY RECORD LEAVES KAIZER CHIEFS AND ORLANDO PIRATES IN THE SHADE

Mamelodi Sundowns captain Themba Zwane has reached an extraordinary milestone in his football career, with his international trophy collection reportedly surpassing the combined international silverware achievements of some of South Africa’s biggest football institutions, including Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

The experienced midfielder, affectionately known as Mshishi, has established himself as one of the most decorated players in South African football, thanks to his remarkable contribution to Mamelodi Sundowns and his achievements on the international stage.

Zwane’s trophy cabinet reflects years of consistency, dedication and excellence at the highest level. His success with the Brazilians has been part of a golden era for the Tshwane giants, who have continued to dominate domestic competitions while making their presence felt in continental football.

What makes the statistic particularly remarkable is the claim that Zwane, individually, has won more international trophies than Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates as clubs. It is an extraordinary comparison that has sparked debate about the midfielder’s achievements and the impressive success enjoyed by Sundowns in recent years.

For Chiefs and Pirates, two of the most historically successful clubs in South African football, such a comparison highlights the different levels of continental success experienced by the country’s leading teams.

At Sundowns, Zwane has become more than just a footballer. He represents leadership, experience and the winning mentality that has helped shape the club’s identity.
