Just How Big is Dagbon New Post Reveals the Kingdom Has Over 2,000 Communities

A recent social media post has opened the eyes of many Ghanaians to just how massive the Dagbon Kingdom truly is. According to Abubakari Is-haq Motariga, the territory of Dagbon is vast, with communities scattered across its entire length and breadth. In a post shared online, he revealed that the number of communities within the kingdom is very close to, or possibly even more than, 2,000.

This revelation is significant because it highlights the sheer scale of the traditional area, which is often associated mainly with Yendi and Tamale. The post gives a clearer picture of the many towns, villages, and settlements that make up the Dagbon Kingdom, showing that it is far larger and more diverse than many people may realize.

For the ordinary person, the number 2,000 is not just a statistic; it represents thousands of families, farms, markets, and cultural sites spread across a wide stretch of land. It also shows the complexity of governing and developing such a vast area, where resources and infrastructure must reach communities far and wide, from the most accessible towns to the remotest villages.

The post has sparked discussions online, with many people expressing surprise at the scale of Dagbon. Some have begun to reflect on what it means for development, representation, and the preservation of culture. For the people of Dagbon, it is a reminder of their rich heritage and the importance of ensuring that every community, no matter how far-flung, is remembered and supported.

As the conversation continues, one thing is clear: Dagbon is not just a small traditional area but a massive kingdom with a vast network of communities. The post serves as an eye-opener for those who may have underestimated its size and significance. For the layman, it is a simple but powerful reminder that the North is home to a great and sprawling kingdom, with a history and a future that cannot be ignored.
