The Phobians saw their four-match unbeaten run come to an end last weekend after suffering a surprise 1-0 defeat to newly promoted Debibi United. Despite the setback, Hearts remain third on the league table with 17 points from nine matches and are firmly in the title race.

Coach Nebojsa Kapor’s side will take confidence from their outstanding defensive record, having conceded just three goals this season—the fewest in the division. They have also turned the University of Ghana Sports Stadium into a fortress, winning three and drawing one of their four home matches without conceding a single goal.

Hearts will also be encouraged by their remarkable 16-match unbeaten home run in the Ghana Premier League, a record they will be keen to preserve against the visitors from Kpando.

Heart of Lions head into the encounter in improved spirits after ending a three-game losing streak with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Bechem United. The win lifted them to 12th place with 11 points and provided a timely confidence boost.

However, Bashir Hayford’s side have struggled on their travels this season, losing three of their four away matches, and will need to improve significantly if they are to leave Accra with a positive result.

History also favours the Phobians. Heart of Lions have failed to win any of their last three league visits to Hearts of Oak, recording one draw and two defeats.

With Hearts eager to maintain their strong home form and Heart of Lions looking to build on last week’s morale-boosting victory, Sunday’s encounter promises to be an intriguing contest between two sides chasing important points for different reasons.
