Former Saudi Arabia-Based Star Wants Kaizer Chiefs Move

Elias Mokwana, a former attacker residing in Saudi Arabia, is supposedly willing to join the Soweto giants, which might provide Kaizer Chiefs a chance to strengthen their team.

A source close to Mokwana has told Innocent Wakwa Mkhize that the player is thinking about his alternatives, but that he wants to stay with Naturena.

This 26-year-old footballer’s career has been rather remarkable, taking off in South Africa and then expanding to other countries. After making a name for himself with Platinum City Rovers, he began to attract interest from more prestigious clubs.

By signing with Sekhukhune United in 2022, Mokwana took another giant leap forward in his development as a person. He became the first South African footballer to play for the famous club Espérance in 2024 after his outstanding performances earned him a transfer to the Tunisian heavyweights.

He then went on a loan to the Saudi Arabian club Al-Hazem after his time in North Africa, where he got further experience playing in a foreign league.

Reports that Mokwana has split from Espérance have, however, sparked speculation about his future. Several groups, reportedly including Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca, have expressed interest in hiring him.

Despite interest from other teams, the most current evidence suggests that Kaizer Chiefs remain an attractive destination for the attacker.

If Amakhosi are successful in signing Mokwana, they will have an opportunity to bolster the experience and quality of their attacking department. His knowledge of South African football and his experience playing abroad make him a potentially useful addition to the team.

Nevertheless, the impending transition is expected to be complex. Reportedly, in order to achieve an agreement, the Chiefs must fulfilll the requirements that were previously promised to the player. Financial factors seem to play a key role in this matter.

Consequently, the transfer’s implementation may hinge on the club’s ability to match his financial expectations.

Supporters, especially those looking forward to the club’s ongoing squad expansion, will be intrigued by Mokwana’s rumoured fondness for Chiefs.

No official word about a possible transfer has been made as of yet. As the player considers his alternatives and the Chiefs assess if they can meet the requirements to complete the deal, the situation is being closely watched.

Depending on the outcome of the negotiations, Mokwana could soon be donning the famed gold and black shirt at Naturena.
