“Even Idiots Get Elected” Miguna Names Sudi, Waititu, Sonko and Ruto in Message to Kenyans

Lawyer Miguna Miguna has sparked fresh discussion after questioning the belief that winning an election automatically makes someone a capable leader.

In a strongly worded statement shared on X, Miguna challenged Kenyans who think that only elected politicians have the right to express opinions or offer ideas about transforming society.

To drive his point home, Miguna mentioned President William Ruto, Oscar Sudi, former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu and former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.

He pointed out that all four had won elections, questioning the assumption that being elected automatically makes someone wise, visionary or capable of delivering meaningful change.

His remarks were directed at people who dismiss ideas simply because they come from individuals without elected positions.

Miguna also questioned Ruto’s supporters who frequently argue that the President has never lost an election.

He wondered why such a record of electoral victories had not automatically produced wonderful ideas and transformative programmes for the country.

According to the lawyer, winning elections should not be confused with possessing the ability to solve Kenya’s problems.

The lawyer further argued that some of the greatest philosophers in history never held elected positions.

He claimed that voters sometimes choose leaders based on popularity rather than their ideas, integrity and ability to provide solutions.

He insisted that people should not be prevented from contributing to national discussions simply because they have never been elected.

Miguna concluded by urging Kenyans to reflect on the country’s 63 years of independence and the leadership choices made over that period.

He argued that the country had continued recycling leaders he described as bandits while ignoring alternative ideas and visions.

He maintained that Kenyans were free to reject the proposals being presented by others, but should not later claim that nobody warned them about the consequences of their political decisions.
