BREAKING NEWS: 634 ‘voters’ registered at non-existent Zone 11 Stadium caretaker’s house

SEBOKENG.- The Umkhonto we Sizwe Party has lodged a grievance with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) after it allegedly discovered the 634 voters who voted in Wednesday’s Local Government Elections (LGE) were registered with a non-existent residential address in Ward 34.

Ward 34 is made up by Zones 10, 11, and 12.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, MKP Ward 34 Councillor Candidate, Botiki Nkopane said that following Wednesday’s LGE’s, they made the discovery.

The address that Nkopane said they discovered the 634 ‘ghost voters’ having been registered to is a demolished caretakers’ house inside the dilapidated Zone 11 stadium.

“We discovered that the voters roll had fraudulent voters who are registered in one address that is non-existent. The said address, as I investigated, is a landmark of zone 11 stadium and a caretaker house that is no longer there. A formal dispute has been lodged, and we demand a re-run of Ward 34 elections,” Nkopane said.

He added that based on First Information of Crime (FIC), the MKP Gauteng Provincial Office has opened a case at the Alberton Police Station on behalf of all the other municipalities that have disputes in Gauteng.

Sedibeng Ster has a copy of the statement for the said cases opened yesterday, November 6, stamped by the Alberton SAPS.

Police referred Sedibeng Ster to the IEC.

Meanwhile, Nkopane blamed the ANC Sedibeng.

“Based on what we have, they are the first ones to cry foul and they are the first ones to identify the address. They have obviously been doing this over the past elections. Now that things have turned against them, they can identify all these hotspots where they have done this,” Nkopane said.

Responding to the allegations, Sedibeng ANC Regional Secretary, Jason Mkhwane said that the MKP has actually joined the ANC on “voter warehousing”.

He further referred Sedibeng Ster to a statement his party issued regarding its intent to approach the IEC over Voter’s Roll concerns.

The statement said that the ANC in the region has decided to approach the Electoral Court concerning unresolved discrepancies found in its analysis of the certified voters’ roll for Emfuleni, Midvaal and Lesedi.

“These concerns were raised with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) before the elections, following the Ward 28 by-election in May 2026, and have been the subject of Electoral Court proceedings.

The statement further said that the ANC’s analysis of the roll dated August 7, 2026 found unusually high numbers of voters recorded against individual residential addresses.

“The analysis also found 32,182 voter records without addresses and 34 instances in which the same identity details appeared in more than one voting district. These findings require investigation and an explanation from the IEC. The ANC seeks verification of the disputed entries and appropriate legal relief based on the evidence,” the ANC statement explained.

Sedibeng Ster has sent an enquiry to the IEC regarding the allegations and is awaiting response.
