AFCON 2027 Qualifiers: Chelle Unveils Super Eagles Squad for Tanzania Clash
According to a report by Daily Post on Saturday, November 7, 2026, Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle has named 24 players for Nigeria’s upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Tanzania.
The Malian tactician included several established internationals in his selection, with captain Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Ademola Lookman and Moses Simon among the players invited for the two encounters.
Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, defenders Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi and forward Akor Adams are also included in the squad as Nigeria prepare for two important fixtures in their qualification campaign.
Chelle has recalled Tochukwu Nnadi, Alhassan Yusuf, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Francis Uzoho to the national team, giving the quartet an opportunity to feature in the November international window.
One of the major talking points from the announcement is the maiden invitation handed to Slavia Prague midfielder Mubarak Suleiman.
The youngster has earned his first opportunity with the senior national team following his performances at club level, adding another option to Chelle’s midfield selection.
Nigeria will begin the double-header by hosting Tanzania at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, November 13.
The Super Eagles will then travel to Dar es Salaam for the return fixture against the Taifa Stars on November 17, with the two teams meeting again four days after their first encounter.
Both matches are important for Nigeria’s qualification ambitions, as the Super Eagles currently occupy second position in Group L.
Chelle’s men will be looking to secure maximum points from the two fixtures to strengthen their chances of finishing top of the group and claiming the available qualification ticket for the 2027 AFCON. The tournament will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda next summer.
