Aden Duale Attends Nairobi Wedding, Urges Kenyans to Unite Ahead of 2027 Elections

Former Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has called on Kenyans to embrace unity and participate actively in the country’s democratic process while attending the Nikah ceremony of Dr Abdimalik Khalif Abdi and Ilhan Abdirazak Ali in Nairobi.

Duale shared the occasion with family members, friends and other distinguished guests as the two families came together to celebrate the marriage. The groom is the son of Sheikh Khalif Malawi, a respected Muslim scholar and Principal of Najah Islamic School, while the bride is the daughter of businessman Abdirizak Tinnish, whom Duale described as a close friend.

Addressing the newlyweds, Duale encouraged them to build their marriage on mutual love, understanding and compassion. He emphasised the importance of following the teachings of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as a foundation for a peaceful and lasting union.

Beyond the wedding celebrations, Duale used the gathering to deliver a message about political unity and civic participation. He urged members of the community to put aside political differences and embrace a common purpose, particularly as the country prepares for the 2027 General Election.

He also encouraged eligible Kenyans to register for national identity cards and voter registration in large numbers, saying increased participation would enable the community to collectively support President William Ruto’s re-election bid.

The ceremony attracted several prominent political, religious and business figures. Among those present were Garissa Governor Nathif Jama, Deputy Governor Abdi Dagane, Senator Abdul Haji, Principal Secretary Ahmed Abdisalan and MPs Mohamed Adow of Wajir South and Yussuf Hassan of Kamukunji.

Other notable attendees included Farah Maalim, Ambassador Affey, Senator Abdirahman Ali Hassan and CRA Commissioner Fatuma Gedi, alongside religious scholars, community elders and business leaders.

The occasion therefore combined a celebration of marriage with conversations about community responsibility, political participation and unity.

Concluding his message, Duale offered prayers for the newlyweds: “Baraka Allahu lakuma, wa baraka ‘alaykuma, wa jama’a baynakuma fi khayr,” wishing them blessings and a prosperous marriage.
