Accra Mayor announces road closure at Tudu and Cocoa Board area to make way for traders

The Mayor of Accra Micheal Kpakpo Allotey has announced plans by the government to block portions of the Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) road and the Tudu area to create designated spaces for traders to sell their goods and prevent them from trading at bus stops.

Speaking during National Clean-Up Exercise in Accra, the Mayor commended traders for their positive response and cooperation towards the exercise.

He noted that traders had demonstrated commitment to keeping the city clean, prompting authorities to review the time allocated for them to resume trading after the clean-up exercise.

According to the Mayor, the initial arrangement, which required traders to wait until 12:00 noon before returning to business, has now been adjusted to 10:00 a.m.

The move is expected to provide traders with more time to conduct their businesses while ensuring that bus stops remain free from trading activities and that public spaces are properly organised.

The Mayor urged traders to continue cooperating with the authorities to maintain cleanliness, order and discipline across the capital.
