Today’s Headlines: We’ll Deliver Over 2m Votes For Tinubu — Akpabio; Rivers NDC Candidate Meets GEJ

Senate President Godswill Akpabio says President Bola Tinubu will secure more than two million votes in Akwa Ibom state in the 2027 elections.

Akpabio spoke on Friday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential rally in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.

He said more than two million registered voters in Akwa Ibom have collected their permanent voter cards (PVCs).

“We are united for progress; we are united in love for the president and for the APC,” Akpabio said.

“Let me make a quick correction, the DG of the campaign said we have 3.2 million registered voters, and he said about 1.8 million have collected their PVCs. Can I correct him? Over two million people have collected their PVCs.

The Rivers State governorship candidate of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, has met with former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan ahead of the February 2027 election.

The meeting reportedly took place at Jonathan’s residence in Bayelsa State, although details of their discussions have not been made public.

However, the meeting may not be unconnected with Lulu-Briggs’ efforts to secure political support ahead of the governorship election.

Lulu-Briggs is among the top three contenders for the state’s top political seat.

Oyo State Governor and 2027 presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, Seyi Makinde, has urged the Federal Government not to undermine democratic institutions or use them to suppress opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Makinde made the appeal while reacting to the Federal High Court judgment nullifying the leadership of the African Democratic Congress led by former Senate President David Mark and the process that produced former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate.

He spoke during an interview with Bauchi Radio Broadcasting, in a video posted by the station on Friday.

The governor said the ruling, which threw the ADC’s leadership and preparations for the 2027 elections into uncertainty, had also placed Atiku’s presidential ambition under threat.

President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of the Ibom Deep Sea Port in Akwa Ibom State, describing the project as a major catalyst for economic development and prosperity in the South-South region.

Tinubu announced the approval on Friday, November 6, 2026, during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential rally at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, following a request by Governor Umo Eno.

The President said the decision reflected his administration’s commitment to spreading development across the country’s geopolitical zones and bringing economic opportunities closer to the people.

“Your request for the Ibom Deep Sea Port is hereby approved. The Ibom Deep Sea Port will bring associated economic value and economic development to the people, just as the governor has said,” Tinubu declared.
