Senate President Godswill Akpabio says President Bola Tinubu will secure more than two million votes in Akwa Ibom state in the 2027 elections.
Akpabio spoke on Friday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential rally in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.

“We are united for progress; we are united in love for the president and for the APC,” Akpabio said.
“Let me make a quick correction, the DG of the campaign said we have 3.2 million registered voters, and he said about 1.8 million have collected their PVCs. Can I correct him? Over two million people have collected their PVCs.
The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has accused state governors under the Bola Tinubu administration of being lazy.
Primate Ayodele said the state governors are spending all the money they receive from the federation account on things that do not help their states’ economies.
In a statement signed by the prophet’s head of communications, Osho Oluwatosin, he urged governors not to spend too much on campaigns but to seek better ways to help citizens.

Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (retd.), has said that military force alone cannot defeat terrorism in Nigeria, stressing the need to address poverty, unemployment, poor governance and other socio-economic factors fuelling insecurity.
Buratai, who spoke on Friday in Lagos at the public presentation of a book, Beyond Military Force: A Strategy for Countering Terrorism in Nigeria, said although military operations remained essential in confronting armed groups, sustainable peace could only be achieved through a combination of military and non-military interventions.
The former army chief, who served between 2015 and 2021, described the book as an important intellectual contribution to Nigeria’s counter-terrorism efforts, noting that security challenges in the North-East and North-West required a comprehensive strategy beyond the use of weapons.
The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, Sokoto State University branch, has accused the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor M.B. Yerima, of giving a misleading account of the circumstances surrounding its five-day warning strike.
The branch chairman, Ismail Bala Muhammad, said the union embarked on the strike after several unsuccessful attempts to resolve disputes over members’ unpaid entitlements with the university management and the Sokoto State Government.
Muhammad made this known in a statement issued on Friday in Sokoto while responding to the Vice-Chancellor’s claim that the union failed to follow due process before commencing the industrial action.
