These Are Schoolgirls Whose Lives Deserve Protection,They’re Not Statistics To Be Passed Away—PK

According to a Post on PK Sarpong official facebook account on Friday, November 6,2026,Ghanaian political commentator P.K. Sarpong has renewed pressure on the John Dramani Mahama-led government over allegations of sexual assault involving 19 female students of Obuasi Senior High Technical School, questioning why the authorities have not demonstrated what he considers sufficient urgency in addressing the matter.

In a Facebook post, Sarpong challenged the government’s response, suggesting that the situation might have attracted greater attention if the affected students were daughters of ministers, influential politicians or wealthy individuals.

He argued that the backgrounds of the victims should have no bearing on the attention and protection they receive, insisting that the 19 girls deserve justice regardless of their families’ social or political standing.

According to Sarpong, the alleged incident should not be treated as another public controversy that attracts temporary attention before disappearing from national discussion.

He stressed that the affected students are individuals whose dignity, emotional wellbeing and future must be protected, rather than being regarded as mere statistics.

The political commentator also raised concerns about the alleged political affiliation of the individual implicated in the controversy, warning that nobody should receive preferential treatment because of their association with the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He maintained that the circumstances surrounding the allegations make it particularly important for the government to demonstrate transparency, fairness and commitment to accountability.

Sarpong further challenged President Mahama’s administration to match its frequently stated commitment to resetting the country with concrete action, particularly when it comes to protecting vulnerable citizens.

Turning his attention to Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, he questioned her perceived silence over the matter and called on her to intervene to ensure that the affected students receive justice.
