Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw, has criticised Nigeria’s persistent poor electricity supply, questioning why the country continues to experience unreliable power in 2026.
The actress expressed frustration over frequent outages, saying electricity sometimes lasts for only a few minutes before being disconnected, leaving households to depend on alternative sources of power.
In a video shared on IG on Friday, Henshaw challenged the Minister of Power over the state of electricity supply, demanding an explanation for the persistent outages.
“Come on, Mr Minister of Power. No light. There’s no light. There’s hardly been any electricity. You people bring it for maybe five minutes, and then it’s gone,” she said.
She also questioned a reported statement attributed to the minister that some electricity consumers had complained in September that their freezers were freezing their contents and asked for power supply to be reduced.
“You were credited with a statement that in September, some people were telling you that you should turn off the power because the things in their freezers were freezing. What’s a freezer for?” she queried.
Henshaw demanded that the minister identify the consumers who allegedly made the complaint, insisting that many Nigerians were still struggling with inadequate electricity.
“I need the names and numbers of these people that called you and said you should turn off the lights, or you should slow down or whatever it is you imagine they told you. There’s hardly electricity in 2026,” she said.
The actress further questioned the rationale behind calls for reduced power supply, saying Nigerians expected reliable electricity by now.
“I’m sorry that people are telling you you should slow down. Slow down what? We are meant to have electricity this 2026. I’m just so angry,” she added.
She also lamented the emotional and financial burden of living with unreliable electricity, saying the situation had become a source of frustration for many Nigerians.
“God will judge all of you. God will judge you people,” she said, before adding that Nigerians deserved special consideration for the difficulties they faced.
Her comments reflect continuing public frustration over electricity supply, with households and businesses often relying on generators and solar systems to meet their energy needs.
