There Must Be No Political Protection Or Attempts To Minimise The Gravity Of Allegations—PK

According to a Post on PK Sarpong official facebook account on Friday, November 6,2026,Ghanaian political commentator P.K. Sarpong has questioned the John Dramani Mahama-led government’s response to allegations of sexual assault involving 19 female students of Obuasi Senior High Technical School, suggesting that the authorities might have acted differently if the victims were daughters of influential politicians or wealthy individuals.

In a Facebook post, Sarpong expressed concern over what he described as the apparent lack of urgency in addressing the allegations, arguing that the seriousness of the matter should not depend on the social or political status of the victims.

He questioned whether the government would have responded with the same level of urgency if the affected students were related to ministers, Members of Parliament or other powerful personalities in the country.

According to him, the 19 schoolgirls deserve protection, justice and the opportunity to rebuild their lives, stressing that their experiences should not be reduced to statistics or allowed to disappear from public discussion as attention shifts to other matters.

Sarpong also drew attention to the alleged political connection of the individual implicated in the controversy, insisting that such circumstances should make the government’s response even more transparent and decisive.

He cautioned against political interference, selective condemnation or any attempt to downplay the seriousness of the allegations because of the person’s perceived association with the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The commentator further challenged the Mahama administration to demonstrate its commitment to resetting the country by ensuring that vulnerable citizens receive adequate protection and that allegations of wrongdoing are properly investigated.
