Portable’s Baby Mama, Ashabi Simple Celebrates Longtime Dream as She Begins NYSC

According to report by The Nation on Friday, November 6, 2026, Nollywood actress and one of singer Portable’s baby mamas, Ashabi Simple, has commenced her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme, describing the development as the fulfilment of a long-standing dream.

The actress, whose real name is Akinyanju Omobolarinde, announced the achievement on Friday, November 6, 2026, through a post on her Instagram page.

She shared a video of herself dressed in the NYSC uniform, expressing gratitude to God for making the opportunity possible.

Ashabi described the development as a significant milestone in her life, noting that joining the scheme had been one of her personal aspirations.

She also recalled her mother’s desire to see her and her sister acquire formal education and eventually wear the NYSC uniform.

According to her, her mother’s words, “Mo fe ke ka iwe, mo fe ke wo aso corper,” meaning she wanted them to become educated and wear the corps uniform, remained deeply rooted in her memory.

The actress disclosed that her educational journey did not progress immediately after secondary school, as she spent five years before gaining admission into a university.

She further revealed that another three years passed after her graduation before she eventually began her national service.

Reflecting on the achievement, Ashabi said the moment reminded her of the determination and personal commitment that motivated her to pursue education.

She expressed excitement about finally serving her country, describing the experience as a dream fulfilled.

The actress also appreciated those who encouraged and supported her throughout her educational journey, particularly acknowledging that one of her mother’s wishes had finally become reality.

Her announcement attracted congratulatory messages from colleagues and well-wishers, including actresses Bukola Adeeyo and Imisi, who celebrated her achievement.

Ashabi shares two children with Portable, whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola Badmus.
