Meet the Bola Tinubu married to President Tinubu’s nephew
Bola Tinubu, the wife of Nigerian businessman and Oando Group Chief Executive, Adewale Tinubu, is a lawyer and child rights advocate whose work has earned her recognition in Nigeria and internationally.
Although she shares a name with President Bola Tinubu, she is not the president’s wife. She is married to Wale Tinubu, the president’s nephew and one of Nigeria’s prominent energy executives.
Unlike her husband, who maintains a high profile in the business world, Bola has largely kept away from the spotlight, focusing much of her attention on legal practice and child protection.
A graduate of the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, where she studied Economic and Social Studies, Bola is particularly known for her advocacy against child sexual abuse.
In 2016, she established the Cece Yara Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to preventing child sexual abuse and providing protection, care and support for affected children.
One of the foundation’s major initiatives is the Cece Yara Child Advocacy Centre in Lagos, which provides a child-friendly environment for investigating and supporting children who have experienced sexual abuse. Its facilities include a forensic interview suite and provisions for training professionals involved in child protection.
Her advocacy work earned her a place on the BBC’s 100 Women list in 2018, which recognises influential and inspiring women from across the world.
Bola has also served in public service. She was appointed chairman of the governing council of the Lagos State Office of the Public Defender by former Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, a position that aligned with her interest in protecting the rights of vulnerable people.
In March 2026, she received further recognition when she was honoured as one of the 100 Women of Impact in Africa at the Arise 100 Women of Impact Awards.
Bola and her husband who generally keep their family life private, have occasionally marked their wedding anniversaries publicly on December 25.
Beyond her connection to one of Nigeria’s influential business families, Bola has built a public identity around legal practice and the protection of children, particularly those vulnerable to abuse.
