Gospel Prophet, 37, installed as Gyaasehene to Otumfuo’s Apagyahene

A 37-year-old Stephen Akwasi Frimpong, better known as Gospel Prophet, has been installed as the new Gyaasehene of Otumfuo Asantehene’s Apagyahene and Ekyehene in the Atwima Nwabiagya Traditional Area.

The new chief, who assumes the stool name Nana Frimpong Nsafoa Ababio Nyameani, formally swore the traditional royal oaths of allegiance to his ancestors, marking the beginning of his reign.

He succeeds his uncle, Nana Nantwi Ababio II, who passed away nearly three years ago after serving as chief for 26 years.

As Gyaasehene to Otumfuo’s Apagyahene, the newly installed chief also oversees his ancestral stool lands at Atwima-Ekye, popularly known as ECG, situated between Atwima Maakro and Atwima Agogo in the Atwima Nwabiagya area.

Speaking after his installation ceremony, held yesterday at the Apagyafie, Nana Frimpong Nsafoa Ababio Nyameani expressed profound gratitude to all individuals who contributed to making his installation possible.

He particularly acknowledged his family, the Apagyahene, Nana Owusu Afriyie IV, and other traditional leaders for their support, guidance and commitment throughout the installation process.

The 37-year-old chief also reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining his prophetic ministry alongside his newly acquired traditional responsibilities.

He explained that he had no intention of abandoning the prophetic calling through which he believes God has blessed him. Rather, he intends to integrate his religious ministry with his traditional leadership to demonstrate that chieftaincy and genuine religious commitment can coexist.

According to him, his decision to continue serving in the prophetic ministry is also intended to challenge the perception held by some people that traditional rulers cannot be deeply committed to their religious beliefs while discharging their customary responsibilities.

His installation brings together two important aspects of his life: his spiritual calling and his traditional heritage, as he begins a new chapter of service to his people and the Atwima Nwabiagya Traditional Area.
