Director of Passport Amantana Mahama  Interdicted

The Director of Passport, Mr Yahaya Amantana Mahama, has been interdicted; sources at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed this to MyNewsGh.com.

Mr Yahaya Amantana Mahama was interdicted after a petition by a prominent Ghanaian Pastor and his wife(Name withheld) over the acquisition of a service passport and related matters was filed at the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

A five-member committee chaired by Ambassador Alexander Grant, constituted on October 13, 2026, is investigating the matter and is expected to present its report to the sector Minister by the close of this week, barring last-minute changes.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Francis Danti Kotia has been tasked with stepping in as Director of Passport pending the outcome of the investigations.

This comes on the heels of claims by the minority in parliament, led by Samuel Abu Jinapor, a ranking member on Foreign Affairs, alleging on the floor of the House that Ghanaian diplomatic passports were being sold for between US$10,000 and $50,000.

“As we speak today, there is evidence, unimpeachable evidence, that today diplomatic passports are being sold, Mr Speaker,” he said,
