Truphena Muthoni Plans to Plant One Billion Trees in 24 Hours to Break World Record in 2027

Kenyan environmental activist Truphena Muthoni has announced an ambitious plan to plant one billion trees within 24 hours in an attempt to break a world record on Earth Day, April 22, 2027.

The announcement has attracted attention, with the environmental campaign expected to become one of the largest tree-planting initiatives if successfully organised and executed.

Muthoni, who is known for her environmental conservation efforts, plans to use the proposed initiative to encourage more people to participate in environmental protection and raise awareness about the importance of restoring forests.

The target of planting one billion trees in a single day represents a major undertaking that would require extensive planning, resources and participation from individuals, organisations, communities and government institutions.

If successful, the initiative could set a new milestone in global environmental conservation and further strengthen Kenya’s contribution to the fight against climate change.

The proposed event is scheduled for April 22, 2027, which coincides with Earth Day, an annual international event dedicated to promoting environmental awareness and encouraging action to protect the planet.

Through the initiative, Muthoni hopes to inspire people beyond Kenya to take an active role in addressing environmental challenges, including deforestation, climate change and the destruction of natural habitats.

Her announcement has generated interest on social media, with many people expressing excitement about the scale of the proposed project and the possibility of Kenya setting another global environmental record.

However, achieving the ambitious target would depend on effective coordination, availability of suitable seedlings, access to planting locations and the involvement of millions of participants.
