According to a report by Ghanaian citizen TV on Monday October 2, 2026, Prominent Ghanaian politician and lawyer Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has attracted attention after declining to comment on Ghanaian politics when he was asked whether the Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson’s new economic policies could help move the country forward.

The response, which appeared to catch attention because of the political significance of the question, came when Otchere-Darko was asked to share his thoughts on the Finance Minister’s economic direction and whether the policies being introduced by the current administration could make a meaningful difference in Ghana’s development.

Rather than offering an assessment of the government’s economic agenda or discussing the potential impact of Ato Forson’s policies, the prominent New Patriotic Party (NPP) figure simply responded: “I don’t wanna talk about Ghanaian politics.”

His brief statement has since become an interesting talking point, particularly given his longstanding involvement in Ghana’s political discussions and his association with the NPP.

The question was centred on whether the Finance Minister’s latest economic policy measures could create the conditions needed to strengthen the economy, improve living standards and propel Ghana towards sustainable development.

As the head of the Finance Ministry, Ato Forson plays a central role in shaping the government’s economic priorities, including fiscal management, revenue mobilisation, public expenditure and policies intended to stimulate economic growth.

His economic decisions have remained a subject of public discussion, with supporters of the government expressing optimism about the administration’s direction while critics continue to scrutinise its performance and the effectiveness of its proposed interventions.

Against this background, Otchere-Darko’s response has attracted interest because many would have expected him to provide a political or economic assessment of the Finance Minister’s plans.

However, he chose not to be drawn into the discussion, leaving the question of whether the new economic policies would significantly advance Ghana’s development unanswered.

Although his response did not amount to an endorsement or criticism of Ato Forson’s economic agenda, it has generated curiosity about his decision to avoid commenting on the subject.

For now, Otchere-Darko has offered no public assessment of whether the Finance Minister’s policies could deliver the economic progress Ghanaians expect.

His short but direct response has nevertheless added another talking point to the ongoing national conversation about Ghana’s economy and the government’s efforts to move the country forward.
