Over 300 Filling Stations And Hundreds Of Factories Now Operating 24 Hours In Ghana – Agalga
Majority Leader James Agalga has announced that more than 300 filling stations and hundreds of factories across Ghana are now operating in three shifts under the government’s 24-Hour Economy policy.
According to Agalga, the initiative is gradually gaining momentum, with several businesses embracing extended working hours as part of efforts to improve productivity, create employment opportunities and strengthen economic activities across the country.
The Majority Leader explained that the policy should not be viewed as a one-time event but rather as an ongoing process that requires continuous implementation and expansion. He stressed that the government remains committed to encouraging more businesses and industries to adopt the three-shift operational system.
His remarks have drawn attention to the government’s efforts to transform Ghana’s economic landscape by promoting business activities beyond the traditional eight-hour working day.
Under the 24-Hour Economy initiative, businesses are encouraged to operate around the clock, allowing companies to maximise their production capacity while creating opportunities for workers to earn incomes through different working shifts.
The reported participation of more than 300 filling stations and hundreds of factories is being presented as evidence of progress in the implementation of the policy.
Supporters believe the initiative could help reduce unemployment, increase industrial output, attract investment and improve the availability of goods and services.
However, the success of the programme will depend on several factors, including reliable electricity supply, adequate security, access to financing and the willingness of private businesses to sustain round-the-clock operations.
Agalga maintained that the initiative is a continuous process rather than something that can be completed overnight.
His statement comes as discussions continue over the government’s economic policies and their potential impact on businesses, workers and ordinary Ghanaians.
