New Cuban-trained Ghanaian doctors pay courtesy call on Okyehene

Forty Ghanaian doctors who recently completed their medical training in Cuba have expressed gratitude to the Okyehene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, for his financial support and encouragement throughout their studies.

The doctors, who benefited from scholarships facilitated by the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Dr Kingsley Agyemang, paid a courtesy call on the traditional ruler on Friday, October 30, 2026.

The delegation was led by Dr Agyemang and used the visit to acknowledge the Okyehene’s contribution to their education, particularly the financial assistance he provided to support their studies in Cuba.

The beneficiaries said they were grateful for the opportunity to pursue medical education and pledged to put the knowledge and skills acquired to good use in Ghana’s healthcare sector.

They assured the traditional ruler of their commitment to serving the country with dedication and contributing to efforts to improve healthcare delivery.

As a mark of appreciation, the doctors presented Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin with a citation of honour in recognition of his generosity, financial contribution and role in helping them achieve their ambition of becoming medical professionals.

In his response, the Okyehene congratulated the doctors on completing their medical training and urged them to approach their profession with commitment and a strong sense of responsibility.

He encouraged them to uphold high standards of professionalism and serve the country with integrity, compassion and dedication.

Dr Agyemang was accompanied by executives of the Abuakwa South Constituency during the visit.

The engagement highlighted the role of educational support and investment in human capital in creating opportunities for young Ghanaians to acquire professional skills and contribute to national development.

The 40 doctors’ return to Ghana marks a new chapter in their journey, as they prepare to apply their medical training in service to the country.
