Aisha Yesufu Reacts as Viral Video Shows Shettima Running at APC Rally in Cross River

According to daily Post, Political activist and chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Aisha Yesufu, has reacted to a viral video showing Vice President Kashim Shettima running towards the podium during an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Cross River State.

The video, which has attracted attention on social media, captured Shettima running alongside the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, as they approached the podium at the U.J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar.

Upon arriving at the podium, the Vice President was also seen displaying some of his familiar dance moves. Yilwatda joined him in dancing as they appeared to encourage supporters and energise the gathering.

The footage quickly became a subject of discussion among Nigerians, with different political supporters offering their opinions about the incident.

Reacting to the development, Aisha Yesufu suggested that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the NDC, had indirectly challenged Nigerian politicians to demonstrate their physical fitness.

Sharing the viral footage on her official X account, Yesufu wrote: “Peter Obi don give Nigerian politicians assignment.”

Her comment generated further political conversations, particularly among supporters of Obi and members of the ruling APC.

Some observers interpreted Shettima’s energetic appearance as an attempt to demonstrate that he remains physically active. Others linked the incident to ongoing political discussions about the health and physical fitness of President Bola Tinubu.

The issue of Tinubu’s fitness to govern has remained a subject of political debate, with supporters and critics frequently expressing opposing views.

Another social media user, Shehu Gazali Sadiq, also reacted to the video. He criticised the atmosphere at the APC rally and questioned the level of enthusiasm displayed by the crowd.

Sadiq claimed that the gathering lacked excitement and described the atmosphere as dull. He further argued that other political figures, including former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore, could attract larger crowds.

He also predicted that the APC and Tinubu would lose the January 16 election, although this was his personal political opinion rather than an established electoral outcome.

Meanwhile, the appearance of Shettima and Yilwatda at the rally has continued to generate reactions, highlighting how political campaigns and public appearances can quickly become major topics of discussion online.

The incident also demonstrates the growing influence of social media in Nigeria’s political environment, where short video clips, comments and reactions can shape public conversations.

As political activities continue ahead of the forthcoming election, the reactions from Yesufu and other commentators reflect the increasing competition between political parties and their supporters.

For now, the viral footage has added another talking point to Nigeria’s political discussions, with citizens continuing to debate the meaning behind the Vice President’s energetic performance at the Cross River rally.
