Winnie Odinga’s Latest Message Raises Questions Days After Nairobi Senate Declaration

Winnie Odinga has sparked fresh speculation about her political plans after sharing a cryptic video hinting at a major announcement expected in 2027.

The East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Member of Parliament posted the video on social media on Monday, November 2, 2026, suggesting that she was preparing something significant and asking Kenyans whether they were ready.

“Rumour has it. Big news is coming. It’s got everyone talking. In 2027, we are bringing…..Are you ready?” Winnie stated in the video.

Although she did not reveal what the announcement would involve, her message has attracted attention as she prepares to contest the Nairobi senatorial seat in the 2027 General Election.

One of the biggest questions surrounding her political ambitions is the party or political formation she intends to use to pursue the seat.

Winnie’s latest message comes shortly after she invited Kenyans to participate in an online poll seeking their opinions on the political direction she should take ahead of the next election.

The poll, shared on Instagram on Monday, presented four options namely ODM/broadbased, Linda Mwananchi, Fight for ODM and Relax/other.

Linda Mwananchi emerged as the leading choice with 72 per cent of the votes at the time of her post. ODM/broadbased and Fight for ODM each received 11 per cent, while Relax/other attracted six per cent.

Her political ambitions became public during a memorial service held on October 15, 2026, to mark one year since the death of her father, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

During the event, Winnie announced her intention to seek the Nairobi Senate seat, explaining that she had identified an opportunity as the current Nairobi Senator, Edwin Sifuna, pursued higher political ambitions.

“As Edwin Sifuna searches for higher offices, I see there is a space in Nairobi, and that is why I have decided I will vie for Senator of Nairobi County,” she said.

With her latest video promising something significant in 2027, attention is now turning to whether Winnie will use the anticipated announcement to reveal her political vehicle, campaign plans or the movement she intends to associate with.
