Uhuru’s 4,000-Acre Gicheha Farm Where Cattle Receive Weekly Pest Control and Regular Vaccinations

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta owns Gicheha Farm, a 4,000-acre property located in Rongai Sub-County, some distance from the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.

The farm has its own veterinary officer responsible for monitoring the health of the cattle and ensuring they receive regular vaccinations. This helps maintain close supervision of the animals and their health.

According to the farm manager, the cattle are taken to a cattle dip located within the property every Tuesday. The weekly exercise is aimed at killing external pests that may affect the animals.

Apart from the weekly pest control, the cattle are vaccinated three times a year against several diseases. These include ringworms, anthrax and foot-and-mouth disease.

The vaccination programme is part of the farm’s routine animal health management, while the weekly dipping helps control external pests.

With its own veterinary officer, an on-site cattle dip and a regular vaccination schedule, Gicheha Farm has established a routine for monitoring the health of its livestock. The 4,000-acre property therefore combines weekly pest control with regular disease prevention measures to protect its cattle.
