Political activity within the opposition movement has surged dramatically after Wiper Democratic Movement party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has unveiled plans for a major campaign blitz across the Nyanza region.

According to an official announcement published on Kalonzo Musyoka’s verified Facebook page, the veteran opposition chief has scheduled a high-profile two-day tour dubbed “The Ukombozi Tour,” covering key locations across Migori and Homa Bay counties.

The swift development has arrived hot on the heels of scathing criticism from former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who has publicly called out fellow coalition principals during an address in Wamunyoro.

Broadcast reports from K24 TV have captured Gachagua taking a sharp swipe at rival opposition figures, declaring that President William Ruto cannot be removed from power through comfortable hotel meetings and boardroom consultations.

Gachagua has urged his opposition colleagues to leave the air-conditioned rooms, head out into the field, and actively mobilize voter numbers if they have remained serious about challenging the current administration.

Taking up the challenge, Kalonzo has confirmed that his campaign machine has moved directly to the ground to meet ordinary citizens face-to-face.

According to his published itinerary, the first day of the Nyanza tour has been scheduled to kick off in Migori County, with rallies planned across Ntimaru, Kehancha, and Posta Grounds in Migori Town.

The second phase of the tour has been structured to take Kalonzo into Homa Bay County, featuring stops at the Tom Mboya Mausoleum, Oyugis Town, and Kendu Bay Town.

By taking his message straight to the voters in Nyanza, Kalonzo has demonstrated a firm commitment to active grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 general election.
