Toluwanisings’ Wife, Father Sign Peace Undertaking After Burial Dispute

According to Punch, published on November 3, 2026, the widow, father and other relatives and associates of late Nigerian gospel singer Toluwanisings have signed a peace undertaking following disagreements over his burial arrangements.

The Oyo State Police Command brokered the agreement after tensions between members of the singer’s family and people close to him generated public exchanges. The parties signed the document on Tuesday at the command headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, following an intervention by the Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Olugbenga.

The police said the disagreement came to its attention on October 28, 2026, amid allegations of conspiracy, defamation of character and conduct capable of causing a breach of peace.

Those who signed the undertaking included the singer’s widow, Olayemi Elizabeth Damilola, his father, Muniru Olayemi, and some of his friends and associates. His personal assistant and other representatives were also involved in the agreement.

The disagreement had centred on where the late singer should be buried. His father reportedly wanted him laid to rest at the house he built or beside his late mother in Osun State, while the burial arrangements involving his widow had become a subject of public controversy.

Under the peace undertaking, the parties agreed to maintain good behaviour and avoid actions that could cause further tension. They also committed themselves to stopping public exchanges, interviews and discussions capable of worsening the disagreement.

The police further stated that those involved agreed to prevent their representatives and associates from circulating allegations or publications that could reignite the dispute through social media, blogs and other media platforms.

The Commissioner of Police warned that anyone whose actions amounted to a criminal offence could be arrested and prosecuted.

The command also appealed to bloggers, journalists and members of the public to avoid spreading unverified information about the matter.

The intervention is aimed at preventing further confrontation among the singer’s family members and associates as arrangements surrounding his burial continue.
