Today’s Headlines: Vote Tinubu for More Projects — Shettima; Adeboye Denies Protesting Jonathan
Vice President Kashim Shettima addressed supporters in Calabar on Monday during an APC presidential campaign rally in Cross River State. He urged residents to re-elect President Bola Tinubu in 2027, stating that doing so would bring additional development projects to the state. Shettima argued that Tinubu’s administration has not failed Nigerians and is instead advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda through necessary economic reforms, infrastructure work, and expanded opportunities for young people and women. He specifically highlighted the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway as an example of ongoing infrastructure efforts and described Cross River as strategically important to Nigeria’s economy due to its potential in tourism, agriculture, maritime commerce, and regional trade. Shettima stressed that greater support for Tinubu’s second term would allow the state to benefit more fully from these national initiatives.
General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has denied leading a protest against former President Goodluck Jonathan over insecurity and economic challenges, saying he carried a placard during a prayer walk, not a political demonstration.
He gave the clarification during his sermon at the church’s November Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, accusing some journalists of misrepresenting the circumstances surrounding photographs of him holding a placard.
Adeboye said the photographs, which had circulated in the media, were used to portray him as having protested against Jonathan, who left office in 2015.
The Sokoto State Government has sealed an office of the African Democratic Congress in the state over a dispute concerning the ownership of the property, pending clarification from the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
The state Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Nasiru Dantsoho, announced the development in a statement on Monday.
Dantsoho said the government took the decision to prevent further disturbances and protect lives and property following a recent confrontation involving party supporters and suspected miscreants.
He explained that a review of the property’s ownership documents showed that it originally belonged to the defunct Savannah Bank, with no official record indicating that ownership had been transferred to another individual or organisation.
