Today’s Headlines: All Die Na Die, We Will Defend Our Votes – Dino Melaye, Tinubu to unveil book chronicling Olanipekun’s legal career
Former Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye has warned the All Progressives Congress, APC, that the African Democratic Congress, ADC, will defend itself in the 2027 general elections.
Melaye made this declaration on Monday while fielding questions in an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’ after an ADC stakeholders meeting.
According to him, the ADC will no longer allow APC to continue to intimidate the opposition with federal might.
He said that the ruling party has been using security agencies and state institutions to harass and intimidate opposition members ahead of the 2027 elections, but that will not happen again.
President Bola Tinubu will on November 19 unveil a six-volume publication chronicling landmark cases handled by Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), during his five decades in the Nigerian legal profession.

The unveiling will take place at the WOC Justice Summit, an initiative of Wole Olanipekun & Co., a day after the senior lawyer’s 75th birthday.
According to a statement on Monday by Wole Olanipekun & Co., the publication commemorates Olanipekun’s 50 years of engagement with the Nigerian legal system and provides an extensive examination of his career through cases reflecting the breadth of his advocacy and legal engagements.
As political interests increasingly seek the influence of traditional institutions, Nigeria’s royal fathers face a delicate battle to preserve their neutrality, authority and place above partisan divisions, writes CHIMA AZUBUIKE
When the Emir of Gombe, Abubakar-Shehu Abubakar III, declared that traditional rulers belonged to no political party and would not allow personal considerations to divide the communities entrusted to their care, his message resonated beyond the confines of his palace. Abubakar echoed this imperative when the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Joash Amupitan, visited him in his palace last Monday. The visit touched on one of the most delicate questions in Nigeria’s political landscape: whether traditional institutions can remain impartial despite the fact that their positions, privileges and continued relevance are often tied to the political establishment. It was also a timely reminder of the responsibility traditional rulers bear as custodians of community values, mediators in local disputes and influential voices in grassroots political engagement. The visits of political office holders, political office seekers to palaces is bound to increase ahead of the 2027 elections.
Amupitan’s visit was part of INEC’s North-East zonal interactive meeting with electoral officials and stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general election. Beyond seeking royal blessings and prayers, the engagement offered an opportunity to reflect on the influence traditional rulers wield over their subjects and the extent to which that influence can contribute to credible elections.

Ogunwuyi, a former member of the House of Representatives, did not publicly disclose his reason for resigning.
Following his departure, Makinde appointed Akinwole Akinwole as his replacement, while Aderonke Adedayo was appointed Director-General of the Due Process Office.
