Techiman SHS teachers arrested over assault on student

Two teachers of Techiman Senior High School have been arrested by the Bono East Regional Police Command for allegedly assaulting a 17-year-old male student of the school.

The teachers, identified as Jerry Jones Owusu Bekoe, 37, an English teacher, and Ameyaw Adusa, 44, an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) teacher, were arrested on November 1, 2026, following the circulation of a video showing the assault on social media.

The Bono East Regional Police Command, in a statement signed by the Regional Commander, DCOP Shaibu A. Sadique-Osie, said preliminary investigations had established that the incident occurred on October 23, 2026, at about 4 p.m. on the school campus.

It said the two teachers had accosted the Form Three student and allegedly assaulted him over claims that he had assaulted two Form One students.

The teachers were currently in police custody, assisting investigations into the incident.

The Command said it was taking steps to ensure that the victim received the necessary medical and psychological support following the assault.

It also assured the public of its commitment to protecting the welfare and safety of students, adding that investigations were ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
