Stop Being Lazy!, Gachagua Tells Opposition Principals

Speaking during a fiery address, the former Deputy President criticized the opposition’s political strategy and questioned the commitment of his colleagues during his two-month absence from the country.

Gachagua challenged the opposition leadership to show tangible work completed while he was away on an extended tour of the United States, pointing out that national politics only gained momentum upon his recent return.

“I have been away for two months; what exactly have you achieved?” Gachagua asked. “I went to the United States for a two-month rest, and my return has completely re-energized the political landscape. I am the most committed leader in the entire united opposition, and I have proven through my actions that I am a serious mobilizer.”

The former country second-in-command expressed his frustration over emerging political friction within the opposition coalition, questioning why his colleagues had turned their political artillery on him rather than confronting the current administration.

He noted that while his political partners remained passive during his absence, they suddenly shifted their focus toward fighting him immediately after his return.

“When I was away, you were not taking the fight to Ruto, but now that I am back, you are fighting me. How do you expect to unseat Ruto with that approach?” Gachagua questioned, warning the principals to focus their energy on the government.

Gachagua dismissed any expectations that he would single-handedly hunt for votes across the country only to deliver them to passive leaders on a silver platter.

He declared that he also harbors presidential ambitions, stating that if he possessed the strategic muscle to help Ruto secure the presidency, he is fully capable of organizing his own presidential bid through a network of like-minded mobilizers.

“Do not imagine that I will hunt for votes just to hand them over to you at your convenience. I will mobilize voters and collaborate exclusively with like-minded mobilizers,” he stated. “I am also in this race. If I had the strategic muscle to help Ruto secure the presidency, why can I not do it for myself?”

The DCP leader further escalated his political offensive by directly challenging Democratic Party leader Justin Muturi over his capacity to influence national outcomes.

Gachagua questioned how Muturi could promise to deliver the presidency when he reportedly managed to mobilize only 35 voters at his own polling station during a recent MCA by-election against him.

“JB Muturi, what is wrong with you? You want us to remove Ruto from office, yet you managed to mobilize only 35 voters at your own polling station during a recent MCA by-election against him. If you cannot deliver your own polling station, how do you expect to deliver the presidency?” Gachagua questioned.

Gachagua linked his peers’ passivity to recent controversial public statements made by UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar regarding deceased voters.

He warned that while the opposition remains inactive inside hotel boardrooms, the ruling alliance is treating the election with extreme aggression, referencing Omar’s public remarks about entering the biometrics of deceased citizens into the system so that the tally becomes a vote for President Ruto.

“I have seen UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar saying that even dead voters will vote, so that the vote goes to Ruto,” Gachagua stated, cautioning that the opposition cannot counter such relentless strategies without hitting the ground.

He concluded his address by directly mocking the opposition’s strategy of planning their ouster campaigns inside high-end boardrooms while the incumbent continues to outpace them on the ground.

“Ruto himself is out there aggressively hunting for numbers while you are comfortable sitting in hotels planning his ouster; how is that even possible?” Gachagua stated. “This conversation is about numbers; how do you become president without mobilizing votes? Nobody will be given the presidency on a silver platter.”

The emerging internal disputes within the opposition camp highlight growing strategic rifts among leaders seeking to form a formidable alliance capable of challenging the ruling party’s aggressive campaign machinery ahead of the upcoming electoral cycle.
