“R3 million Coming From MKP Account To Thalente Myeni Every Month” Nomvalo Reportedly Revealed
Sibonelo Nomvalo, a former secretary-general of the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party, has committed grave accusations of financial mismanagement within the organization. According to Nomvalo, Thalente Myeni, the son of the late South African Airways (SAA) chairperson Dudu Myeni, was allegedly involved in the monthly transfers of at least R3 million from the party’s funds to his business bank accounts.
After being removed from his positions as secretary-general and the party’s parliamentary caucus, Nomvalo presented the accusations at a news conference on Friday, 30 October 2026.
Nomvalo claims that Thalente Myeni’s business accounts were used to transfer funds from the MK Party’s organisational accounts to his personal accounts on a regular basis.
He insinuated that the alleged financial arrangements were the work of party members who benefited from informal power structures and were fighting against attempts to establish appropriate institutional controls and hold them accountable.
According to reports, Nomvalo claimed that he was at conflict with those who were supposedly profiting from the current arrangements because of his efforts to institutionalise the organization.
He went on to say that certain party members were uneasy with his attempts to increase responsibility because of the suspected money dealings.
The late Dudu Myeni was a close friend of former president Jacob Zuma and a former chairwoman of South African Airways; his son Thalente is the current chairperson of the board.
Prominently included in the State Capture Inquiry was Dudu Myeni, whose son’s business dealings with money were the subject of much scrutiny.
Investigators from the Zondo Commission looked into payments made by Premier Attraction 1016, Thalente Myeni’s firm, to a construction company that exceeded R3 million.
According to the evidence given to the inquiry, Dudu Myeni reportedly instructed the subsequent transfer of some of the funds to the Jacob Zuma Foundation.
In its findings, the committee urged more examination into the money’s movement to see whether any improper relationships existed among the participants.
While the State Capture Inquiry did look into some transactions, Nomvalo’s most recent accusation is unrelated and pertains to purported monthly payments from MK Party accounts.
The former secretary-general has refrained from publicly disclosing any details on the purported monthly payments or the financial paperwork that would independently prove the transactions.
The MK Party’s financial administration has come under scrutiny as a result of his allegations, especially with relation to the authorisation, distribution, and monitoring of organisational funding.
The party president, Jacob Zuma, was allegedly poisoned by false intelligence reports and misleading material fed to him by certain high-ranking party members, according to Nomvalo.
He insists that he had no ill will toward the organization and just wanted to fortify its internal systems, not further his own political agenda.
In prior announcements about Nomvalo’s dismissal, the MK Party has alluded to internal organisational conflicts, candidate selection problems, factionalism, and other administrative matters.
It is still to be determined whether the MK Party will address the most recent financial claims and if proof of the purported R3 million monthly transactions will be presented.
