Obi’s Northern Supporters Would Dump Him If He Didn’t Promise To Serve 1 Term As President—Peterside

Atedo Peterside, President of the ANAP Foundation and founder of Stanbic IBTC Bank, has spoken about Peter Obi’s promise to serve only one term if elected president in 2027

In an interview with Arise TV, Peterside said Obi’s supporters in the north want power to return to the north in 2031. He said if Obi had not promised them that he would do only one term in office if elected president, most of them would have withdrawn their support for him by now

Peterside described Obi’s promise as a smart political decision to maintain the support of those backing his ambition in the North.

In Peterside’s words: “The reason why Peter Obi, if he is thinking like I am thinking, should only mention a single term is because four years from now all those people supporting him from the north will insist it is their own turn. And if he had not promised them that, they would dump him now. So to me he has no choice, it is a smart decision and there was no other way”
