NPP Members Begin ‘Y3 Gye Y3 Sika’ Demonstration Against Foreign Affairs Minister

Members and supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have gathered to begin their planned “Y3 Gye Y3 Sika” demonstration, targeting the Minister of Foreign Affairs over concerns surrounding the management of public funds.

The protest is expected to focus on the reported GH¢49 million expenditure on the evacuation of Ghanaians from South Africa, an issue that has generated political controversy and calls for greater accountability.

The NPP has been demanding a full disclosure of how the money allocated for the evacuation exercise was spent, including a detailed breakdown of the expenses incurred.

The demonstration also provides an opportunity for the party’s members to raise concerns about other issues they believe require the government’s attention.

The protesters are directing their concerns at the Foreign Affairs Minister, demanding answers and transparency over the handling of public resources.

The “Y3 Gye Y3 Sika” slogan, which translates to “We have taken our money”, reflects the demonstrators’ position on the controversy surrounding the evacuation funds.

The issue has featured prominently in political discussions, with the NPP Minority previously questioning the reported expenditure and calling on the minister to account for the funds.

The gathering marks the beginning of the planned demonstration as party supporters seek to draw attention to their demands.

The protest is expected to keep the evacuation expenditure controversy in the spotlight, particularly as calls for a detailed explanation of the funds continue.
