“Ndiye Huyu” Photos Emerges Of Veteran TV Presenter Arrested Over Her Mother’s Murder

Photos have emerged of former KTN television presenter and actress Regina Wambui Gitau, popularly known as Regina Re, following her arrest in connection with the murder of her 86-year-old mother, Dorita Lasinder Macharia, at their family home in Loresho, Nairobi.

Regina, who previously hosted the popular game show Who’s Smarter Now? on Kenya Television Network (KTN), is among four family members being investigated over the elderly woman’s death.

The four suspects appeared before the High Court at Kibera Law Courts on Monday, November 2, where detectives obtained permission to detain them for 10 days to allow further investigations.

The other suspects are Thandie Malaika Wanjiku Gitao, Immanuel Walgwe Munyeki and Alton Jimmy Macharia.

According to investigating officer Police Constable David Njoroge, the deceased was discovered dead inside her house on the night of October 30, with a deep wound on the left side of her neck.

Detectives told the court that the incident allegedly followed a disagreement between the deceased and her granddaughter, Thandie, after she reportedly found her with her boyfriend, Alton, in her bedroom.

Police further alleged that the grandmother had demanded that Thandie leave the house and surrender her room keys before later calling her son for assistance.

Investigators plan to examine CCTV footage, fingerprints and phone records, interview witnesses and conduct a postmortem examination.

The four suspects were arrested at approximately 2am on October 31 and taken to Gigiri Police Station.

They have not been convicted, and investigations are ongoing.
