NDC Will Show You How Demo Is Done – Bring Back Ofori-Atta Is Next – Dr. Amoakohene Tells NPP
Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has fired back at the NPP over their Yɛgye Yɛ Sika demonstration.
The young minister, who is just 35 years old and a medical doctor by profession, had one simple question for the NPP protesters who flooded Accra today.
Dr. Amoakohene, who was appointed by President John Dramani Mahama in January 2025, says he is not surprised by what happened at Tetteh Quarshie. According to him, the NPP has suddenly found its voice to demonstrate, but Ghanaians have not forgotten their own record.
Speaking after the protest, he said the NDC is watching and will respond in full.
“After NDC’s internal elections, I am sure there’ll be part 2 of ‘YÉ›gye YÉ› Sika’ – Bring Back Ofori-Atta demo,” he stated.
His point is clear: If the NPP wants to talk about accountability and money, then they should be ready to account for their own 8 years in power.
Dr. Amoakohene is referring to former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, who served under President Akufo-Addo. During his time, Ghana faced serious economic challenges, debt restructuring, and many Ghanaians called for his removal. The name Ofori-Atta still brings painful memories of hardship, high cost of living, and haircut.
“Today they are shouting YÉ›gye YÉ› Sika about GH¢49.7 million. What about the billions that were lost, the debt we are still paying, and the economy Ofori-Atta destroyed? Should we also not ask them to bring him back to account?” he quizzed.
The Ashanti Regional Minister said the NDC government is focused on work, not noise. He said President Mahama’s government has approved payment for JUSAG workers, is working on the 24-hour economy markets, and is committed to continuity of development.
He told the NPP youth that demonstration is not new. What is new is delivering results.
“Are they done? Because when we are done with our internal elections, we will show them what a real accountability demo looks like. Part 2 is coming – Bring Back Ofori-Atta,” Dr. Amoakohene added.
