The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) has lifted the suspension of NCBA Group Plc shares, following a two-week trading freeze.
In a notice, NSE said the shares will, however, be temporarily halted again to facilitate the transfer of approximately 66 per cent of the company to Nedbank Group Limited.
The exchange announced that the suspension, which took effect at the close of trading on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, would be lifted on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
However, trading will be temporarily halted on the same day to allow the execution of a block trade through the NSE Block Trade Board.
“Following the lifting of the suspension, trading in NCBA Group Plc shares will be temporarily halted on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, to facilitate the execution of a block trade through the NSE Block Trade Board, pursuant to the acquisition by Nedbank Group Limited of approximately 66 per cent of the issued ordinary shares of NCBA Group Plc,” reads the notice.
The transaction follows Nedbank Group Limited’s announcement that its offer to acquire approximately 66 per cent of NCBA Group Plc’s issued ordinary shares had become unconditional in all respects.
According to the NSE, the temporary halt is intended to ensure the transaction is completed and settled in an orderly manner.
Trading in NCBA shares will resume once the block trade process has been completed.
The latest announcement follows an earlier notice issued by the exchange on October 21, 2026, in which it announced the suspension of trading in NCBA’s ordinary shares on the Main Investment Market Segment.
The suspension also affected futures contracts based on the company’s shares on the NSE Derivatives Market and was scheduled to remain in force until the close of trading on Monday, November 2, 2026.
At the time, the exchange said the decision followed Nedbank Group Limited’s announcement that its offer to acquire approximately 66 per cent of NCBA’s issued ordinary shares had become unconditional in all respects.
The suspension was intended to provide time for the reconciliation of NCBA’s share register and the implementation of the acquisition.
The NSE had indicated that, subject to the completion of the reconciliation process, trading in NCBA shares and the related futures contracts would resume on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
The transfer of shares to Nedbank Group Limited under the offer was also scheduled to take place through a block trade on the NSE Block Trade Board on the same date.
Despite the acquisition, NCBA Group Plc will continue to be listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange after the transaction is completed.
