Ghana defender Marvin Senaya has reflected on his journey back from injury after featuring in Auxerre’s Ligue 1 clash against Racing Club Strasbourg.
The right-back who missed the start of the season due to an injury he sustained at the 2026 World Cup in North America, climbed off the bench in the second half of Auxerre’s 4-1 defeat.
Senaya was left with mixed feelings after the game, sharing his journey on the sidelines and a return to the club that nurtured him.
“It’s been a unique journey. Months of struggle, patience, and self-doubt. And fate has brought me back to the pitch at Meinau, where part of my story began,” he posted on social media.
He added: “A tough afternoon for everyone, but a significant step for me personally. My faith never wavered, even in the darkest moments. Only God knows how far I’ve come. Grateful to be back.”
His return to action is huge boost for Ghana as the Black Stars begin preparations ahead of the two-legged AFCON qualifier against Somalia later this month.
Senaya, who was born in France to a Togolese father, decided to represent Ghana at international level in 2026, and played a prominent role at the World Cup for the national team.
