Maame Gold Gives Adwoa Smart New Home As Actress Recalls Flooding Struggles

Veteran Ghanaian actress Adwoa Smart has expressed deep gratitude to businesswoman Maame Gold after receiving a fully furnished apartment at East Legon Hills, a gift that will allow her to leave the flooding challenges she experienced at Abossey Okai.

In a video circulating on social media, the actress could barely hide her excitement as she spoke about the difference the new accommodation would make in her life. She recalled how flooding at her former residence regularly destroyed her belongings, making the situation particularly difficult.

“Floods used to destroy my belongings at Abossey Okai, where I live, so I’m very glad to be moving to East Legon Hills. I’m grateful to Maame Gold because this is beyond my imagination,” she said.

The gift represents a significant moment for the actress, who has previously spoken publicly about her desire to own a comfortable home.

In November 2021, Adwoa Smart appealed for support during an interview with Accra FM presenter Nana Romeo, explaining that owning a house was one of her biggest dreams. She said having her own place would give her the opportunity to accommodate relatives and help people who needed somewhere to stay.

Her housing situation also attracted attention in January 2025, when she clarified that former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia had not bought her a house, contrary to claims circulating online. She explained that she was still living in rented accommodation.

There was also an earlier effort by actor Kwaku Manu to support her housing ambitions. In August 2025, he revealed that he had donated a plot of land at Amasaman to the actress and started a fundraising appeal to help construct a two-bedroom house for her.

The latest gesture from Maame Gold therefore comes against the background of Adwoa Smart’s publicly expressed wish for a permanent and comfortable home.

Her excitement is also understandable given the flooding problems she described at Abossey Okai. Moving into the furnished apartment at East Legon Hills will give her a new living arrangement away from the conditions that repeatedly affected her belongings.

For the veteran actress, the gift is more than a change of address; it is a development she says she never imagined would happen.
