Kaaba Decorated in Nigerian Flag Colours as respect to President Tinubu

The Holy Kaaba in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, was reportedly adorned in the colours of the Nigerian national flag as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was granted access to enter the sacred structure at Masjid al-Haram.

The development was shared by Honourable Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, in a social media post on Sunday, November 1, 2026.

According to the presidential aide, the occasion formed part of President Tinubu’s visit to the holy city of Makkah, where he was granted the rare opportunity to enter the interior of the Kaaba, one of the most revered sites in Islam.

Photographs accompanying the announcement showed the Holy Kaaba adorned with green and white, the colours of Nigeria’s national flag, creating a striking visual display during the President’s visit. The development has attracted attention, particularly among Nigerians, as the images highlight a symbolic connection between the country’s national identity and the President’s visit to one of the most significant religious sites in the world.

The Kaaba, located at the centre of Masjid al-Haram in Makkah, is regarded as the holiest structure in Islam. Muslims across the world face its direction during their daily prayers, making it a central symbol of Islamic worship and unity.

Access to the interior of the Kaaba is highly restricted and granted to selected individuals on special occasions, making such visits particularly significant.

President Tinubu’s visit to the sacred structure therefore represents a notable moment during his stay in the Saudi Arabian holy city.

The presidential aide’s announcement has also generated interest on social media, with Nigerians reacting to the photographs showing the Kaaba adorned in colours associated with the country’s national flag.

The visit comes amid President Tinubu’s engagements in Saudi Arabia, with the development drawing attention to his religious and diplomatic activities during the trip.
