Ire Reflects on Life as She Celebrates Birthday After Destiny Boy’s Death

Ire, the wife of late Nigerian singer Afeez Adesina, popularly known as Destiny Boy, has opened up about her personal struggles as she celebrates her birthday.

The mother of one took to her instagram page to reflect on the challenges she has faced, describing herself as a widow, a single mother and a woman who has had to remain strong despite difficult moments.

According to her, life has not been easy since she experienced the loss, but she remains grateful to God for sustaining her through the difficult period.

Ire also expressed hope for a better year ahead, praying for healing, peace, financial blessings and more reasons to be happy. She added that she and her son deserve happiness despite the challenges they have faced.

Recall that Destiny Boy died on January 18, 2026, at a young age. His death generated public attention, with questions initially raised about the circumstances surrounding his passing.

Following investigations by the Ogun State Police Command, the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department’s Homicide Section.

An autopsy report later indicated the presence of harmful levels of tramadol and its metabolites, alongside methamphetamine, in his system. The report identified aspiration pneumonitis resulting from the ingestion of the substances as the cause of death.

Destiny Boy rose to prominence in 2019 after his Fuji rendition of Davido’s hit song, ‘If’, gained attention on social media. He subsequently released covers of songs by popular Nigerian artistes, including Tekno, 2Baba, 9ice and Small Doctor.

He also built a music catalogue with songs such as ‘Lamba’, ‘One Transaction’, ‘Gbese’, ‘Billion Dollar’, ‘Mio Gbonkankan’ and ‘Lowkey’.

The late singer and his partner, Ire, welcomed their first child together in November 2024.
