I Will Mention Names — Bagbin Dares Anyone Who Tries To Block Anti-LGBTQI Bill
Speaker Alban Bagbin is angry — and he is not hiding it.
Addressing Parliament at the resumption of sitting on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the Speaker warned that he will name and shame any person who tries to obstruct the passage of the Anti-LGBTQI bill.
“I will assure you that I will mention names, names of any person who tries to obstruct the passage of this bill,” Bagbin said bluntly.
This is the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, 2025 — the law Ghanaians call the Anti-LGBTQI bill.
Bagbin says the bill must come back to the House and must be completed. No delay. No games.
This is not new for Bagbin. In the 8th Parliament, he was the one who led the charge to pass the original bill without compromise. He pushed it. He defended it. He said it was about protecting Ghanaian family values.
Now, as Speaker of the 9th Parliament, he is back on the same path. He says Parliament has passed a version with 31 amendments, but the core fight remains — Ghana must not accept LGBTQI activities.
His warning is direct to MPs: If you have been influenced by foreign groups promoting LGBTQI, if you try to delay or kill this bill, I will call your name on the floor of Parliament. Ghanaians will know you.
It is a threat, but many Ghanaians love it. They say at least one leader is standing firm.
The message from Bagbin is simple: You can hide behind procedure, but you cannot hide from the people. If you block this bill, your name will be mentioned.
