“I had cars worth over ₦500m in my lot, customers’ cars worth over ₦200m were also destroyed” – Car dealer recounts fire incident

A car dealer has recounted how a fire outbreak at his office destroyed vehicles worth over ₦700 million, including cars purchased by customers who had yet to collect them.

In a video shared online, the dealer said he closed his office at about 10 p.m. and later discovered the fire through his security cameras after receiving a call from his security guard at about 2 a.m.

He said he was shocked to see the fire spreading despite efforts to put it out using water and more than 10 fire extinguishers at the premises.

According to him, he immediately contacted the fire service and other emergency agencies for assistance, but it took about three hours for firefighters to arrive and bring the situation under control.

The dealer said the fire destroyed his office setup and vehicles valued at over ₦500 million. He added that more than 21 cars belonging to customers, worth over ₦200 million, were also affected.

He expressed particular concern for the customers who had paid him to purchase vehicles but had not yet taken delivery of them.

“I spent over ₦200 million to buy cars for them, and they could not be able to pick their cars again. They spent over ₦100 million, ₦80 million, and they won’t be able to pick their cars again,” he said.

The visibly distressed dealer apologised to affected customers, saying he did not know what caused the fire and that his greatest concern was the loss they had suffered.

He also prayed for God to bless the affected customers financially and provide them with the means to acquire even more vehicles.

5 likes 0 dislikes Reply A Emm…emmm….what kind of statement did I just read? Sounds like he is up to something. Another thing surprising me is that he didn't mention that they maybe were like able to move like 5 cars or so out before the 3 hours it took the fire department to get there. It's just a suspicion o!!! Sorry for your loss. Even 1 million is not small money.
