Gwen Njiru Kinisu appointed new CEO of Britam Life Assurance in new changes
Britam Life Assurance Kenya has appointed Gwen Njiru-Kinisu as the new Chief Executive Officer and Principal Officer.
The appointment puts one of the industry’s most experienced distribution specialists at the helm of one of the country’s biggest life insurers.
She joins Britam from Prudential Kenya, where she has worked for over eight years, initially as Chief Commercial Officer and later as CEO and Managing Director from 2021.
Njiru-Kinisu has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry with a focus on delivering insurance products to customers.
Prior to joining Prudential in 2018, she was the general manager for direct business at Old Mutual Kenya.
She previously headed bancassurance at the National Bank of Kenya and led alternative channels and bancassurance at Pan Africa Life Assurance Company.
Her experience in growing sales through banking partnerships and direct channels will likely inform her approach at Britam Life.
Kenya’s life insurance industry is searching for new ways to reach customers in a market where few have cover.
Njiru-Kinisu has a Global Executive MBA in International Business and a bachelor’s degree in business from the United States International University-Africa.
She has also been a board member of the International Center for Research on Women-Africa since 2023.
