Ghana draw Angola, Colombia and Iraq in 2026 WAFF Amputee Football World Cup
Ghana’s Black Challenge will launch their campaign at the 2026 WAFF Amputee Football World Cup with a challenging opening fixture against former champions Angola on Saturday, November 14, in San Juan de los Lagos, Mexico.
The reigning African champions are scheduled to meet the 2018 world champions at San Martin before taking on Colombia the following day, November 15, at Santa Lucia 1. Their final Group D assignment will be against Iraq on Monday, November 16, at Santa Lucia 2.
The competition will run from November 13 to 22, bringing together 24 national teams from Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas. Ghana will be hoping to build on their success on the continent and make a strong impression on the world stage.
Angola are expected to pose a major threat, having won the World Cup in 2018 before finishing second in the 2022 edition. Colombia and Iraq will also present difficult challenges as the Black Challenge seek to progress from the group.
Ghana arrive in Mexico with an impressive record in African amputee football. They won the African Amputee Football Championship in 2021 before claiming gold at the maiden African Para Games in Accra in 2023.
The Black Challenge went on to retain their continental title in Cairo in 2024, beating Morocco 2-1 in the final.
That victory earned Ghana a place at the 2026 World Cup and reinforced their position among the leading nations in African amputee football.
